Vasaeleth are yet another band in the resurfacing genre of death/black metal. They however are quite far on their way to becoming one of the greats of the genre. Their demo cassette is extremely promising, and probably my personal favorite demo of the year.

Crushing and ritualistic DEATH. Released by SSP on red audio cassette limited to 200 copies and came with a white pin with black logo. Keep an eye out for the full-length coming soon on Profound Lore (CD)/Blood Harvest (LP) Records.

This rip sounds much better than that other shitty one floating around. Listen to this and DIE.

Demoncy's Joined in Darkness continued the repetitive ritual vibrations from bands like VON with great effect. This is without a doubt one of the most important black metal releases that ever came out of the USA. Contains bonus tracks from The Ode to Eternal Darkness EP, and The Dawn of Eternal Damnation EP.

Initially released on CD (Baphomet/Hammerheart Records)/LP (Sombre Records, 350 copies)/MC (Ravenheart, 500 copies). Remastered CD in 2007 with alternate cover on Negative Existence Records.

Nothing needs to be said about this legendary cult band. Mandatory compilation of "Satanic Blood", "Blood Angel", and a live gig at the Stone in San Francisco. Was released on CD/dLP by NWN! Prod. in 2003, and reissued again in 2009.

Proclamation has a mark in black/death metal history with this release. They took the war black element Blasphemy had, but combined it with a darker and much heavier atmosphere. My favorite album by the Spanish horde.

Horrendously evil and intense atmosphere. UNHOLY CRUCIFIX's most impressive demo in my opinion. I think Profanation of Deity takes VON to another level of darkness, perhaps even exceeding VON... The riffs on "Beckoning Damnation" are horrifying.

Listen to this release in darkness at maximum volume.

PSEUDOGOD presents fucking KILLER death/black metal in the vein of ancients such as Archgoat, and perhaps it's just me, but I hear some Katharsis in their guitar riffs... This is some of the best shit I've ever heard, and the vocals have improved a lot (not saying they were bad before though). Ferocious and evil.

Blaze of Perdition play black metal similar to Watain.

Awesome split release on CD (Putrid Prophet/Nachtgnosis)/CS limted to 333 copies (MLDCTN Rec.)/(and PSUEDOGOD's side is to be pressed on one-sided LP in the future on ARMA DIABOLI Rec.).
